The Millennial Mission Podcast - Parenting, Personal Finance, and Purpose for the Christian Millennial Couple
Lazy, entitled, selfish: those are just some of the things people are calling the millennial generation, but are the stigmas true? We’re The Adkins. We are a millennial couple, and this question is something we have become obsessed with finding the answer to. We admit that our generation has some flaws, but it’s time we stop just accepting that’s the way it is and start doing something about it. We have been on a mission to pursue our God given-purposes and we are sharing that mission in real time. Through this podcast, our goals are to help you realize that you have a unique purpose, give you the tools to discover what that purpose is, and challenge you---millennial or not --- to RISE UP and live out every day being the person that God has designed you to be. -Are you in a mountain of debt or do you struggle with money and finances? Listen to our debt journey and tips.-Are you struggling with parenting? We talk all about the hard days and how to be better for our kids.-Wondering what God is calling you to do with your life? Listen to our interviews with real people who share their journey of living out their God-given purposes. If we do these things together, we truly believe that we will be able to break the stigmas of millennials, and shift the narrative of our generation. We won’t just be a force for good, but we will be trailblazers for the generations to come. Are you ready to start your mission?

8. Keisha: Sometimes Struggle can be the Catalyst to Your Purpose

In life we all face dark seasons, and Keisha was no different. Keisha faced an uhealthy relationship due to addiction and despite her best efforts, divorce ended up being part of her story. While none of us ever wish to go through that type of struggle, some of us do. It's what we choose to do with the circumstances in front of us that can shape the rest of our lives though.Keisha talks about how she could have easily chosen to fail and fall into victim mode of being a single mom on one income. Instead though, she chose to embrace her circumstances, reflect on her choices, and grow. She then felt called to teach other young women the tools that they would need to avoid walking down a similar path. She took her most painful struggles, and used them to change the lives of others.Check out Keisha's Website Check out Keisha's full Author Page on amazon! If you're interested in booking Keisha to speak, you can contact here at keishamontfleury@gmail.com  More on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode:Follow us on IG: @bethanyandcorey Sign Up for exclusive discounts, benefits, and top secret info only our podcast listeners get!www.millennialmission.coPress Inquiries/Contact: bethany@millennialmission.co

9. Do We All Have a Purpose?

Link: Show Notes  For a good part of my life, I struggled with the answer to this question. Finding the truths behind this question were and still are a big part of why The Adkins Highlight REAL was born. I have never really been able to put my finger on an actual "title" for my purpose, and that killed me. What I did know was that I was a mom and a wife, and so I decided to take the tools that I did have and use them to start improving our lives. I still can't say I have this concrete answer for what my purpose is, but what I have discovered it that's ok, and I want you to know that too. Every day Corey and I are uncovering more answers on this journey, and this podcast is all about our updates, discoveries, and outlook on how each and everyone has a place and a purpose in this world. So what's the answer to the question, "Do we all have a purpose?"Listen to find out!  More on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode:Follow us on IG: @bethanyandcorey Sign Up for exclusive discounts, benefits, and top secret info only our podcast listeners get!www.millennialmission.coPress Inquiries/Contact: bethany@millennialmission.co

11. Sarah Sliman - From Victim to Victor in the Making

Corey and I absolutely adore Sarah and everything she stands for.Sarah is a fitness guru, personal trainer, and speaking from experience, an absolutely amazing health coach---but that wasn't always her story. In this podcast, we get to hear her talk all about how she got to where she is now.  Spoiler alert: It took her learning to leave behind a victim state of mind, and choosing to use her struggles as a catalyst to help others. During her story, we covered everything from the struggle of comparison and feelings of not being enough to getting rid of the stigma around fitness culture.  Sarah's story is an awesome one that I think many will relate to. She is honestly one of our favorite people in the fitness industry and it's because of the path and mission she has chosen for herself and her business.  In this episode we touched on:The struggle with comparison and feelings of not being enoughHow food restriction and body image used control Sarah's lifen and how she began to overcome thatRealizing that remaining in a victim state of mind was making her powerlessHow to be able to discern when a door is closing on your journey, and having the faith to take a leap into the next journey. What to do if you know what your purpose is but you're afraid to step into it, and what to do i you have no idea what your purpose is at allGetting rid of the stigma around fitness culture and the idea that it's all about aesthetics You can find Sarah: On her Instagram On her blog For additional Power Group information, feel free to message her on Instagram!  Finally, we just want to let you know that we typically do a give away on the first of every month, and anyone that leaves a comment review on our podcast is entered to win.  This month we are doing things a but differently, and you dont want to miss it! Instead of a gift card, the winner in this months drawing will be getting a month of Sarah's Power group paid by us! This is not something you want to miss out on. Bethany Here--I am so happy that I get to call these three men my family. 56. PARENTING: Is Pursuing Our Passions During Parenthood Selfish?

Becoming a parent is one of the most life altering things that we experience. It is a beautiful, fun-filled journey, but it also comes with much sacrifice. In the early days, we give up sleep to care for an infant who can’t care for himself. In order to fill our homes with baby toys and accessories, we give up space in our homes where nice furniture used to sit. We give up our favorite television shows in exchange for PJ Masks or Mickey Mouse.Date nights, motorcycles, long spa days, whatever it may be—we give it up. And we do it happily for the sake of loving our children well and putting them first. But what about our callings? What about our God-given purposes? In order to prioritize our family, should we give them up too? Read the full article HEREMore on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode:Follow us on IG: @bethanyandcorey Sign Up for exclusive discounts, benefits, and top secret info only our podcast listeners get!www.millennialmission.coPress Inquiries/Contact: bethany@millennialmission.co

70. If You Had to do 2020 All Over Again, Would You?

2020 has been quite the year, and today we are reflecting on the wins, losses, and lessons learned throughout all of it. A lot of us faced cancelled plans, unexpected tragedy, and so much more. We’d be willing to bet at first thought, if someone asked if you’d do it all over again, you’d give them a hard “no.” Today we are talking about why it might be a good idea to shift your thinking and embrace the craziness that we’ve all gone through this year. Afterall, 2020 might be almost over, but there’s no guarantee that 2021 is going to be any better, so why not shift our perspectives so that we have something to take away from all of the craziness and move forward in faith instead of fear!Things We Discussed In The Episode/Episode Highlights: Our reflection/recap on the year in reviewThe different lessons we learned throughout the yearThe importance of acknowledging where you’re at rather than ignoring it and “pushing through”Choosing to surrender in the good and bad timesHow to shift our perspective and find the lessons through the hard moments in lifeMore on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode:Follow us on IG: @bethanyandcorey Sign Up for exclusive discounts, benefits, and top secret info only our podcast listeners get!www.millennialmission.coPress Inquiries/Contact: bethany@millennialmission.co

71. What’s Holding you Back?! with Hannah Brencher

Today I (Bethany) was excited to take on this interview with Hannah Brencher solo. Corey was at basketball, and while I love his company on the podcast, I was selfishly looking forward to picking Hannah’s brain all on my own! Hannah is an author, speaker, and one of the very first “writing mentors” I chose to learn from early on in my writing journey just as my blog was beginning. Back then, there was no podcast, I was just finishing my first manuscript, and I would have paid a good amount of money to sit down and spend an hour one on one with Hannah. So, the fact that I had the opportunity to have her as a guest on the podcast today was a total full circle moment that I was so thankful for! Today we talked about millennials, purpose, and some of my favorite topics that I chose from her brand new book “Fighting Forward.” There are so many things that we let unnecessarily hold us back from truly living out our purposes, and Hannah shares so much of her heart on this topic today.  I can’t wait for you to hear what she has to say in today’s episode, as well as get a sneak peek into her new book that comes out on January 5th! Things We Discussed In The Episode/Episode Highlights: How you don’t have to see the whole picture to let your story unfoldThe importance of not losing focus in your purpose journey for less important things such as social media numbers and popularityFinding meaning in the mundaneHow to address the inner critic within usThe importance of looking “out” rather than “down” and being willing to have your day hijacked More on Hannah Brencher: Pre Order your copy of Fighting Forward HERE!IG @hannahbrencher More on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode:Follow us on IG: @bethanyandcorey Sign Up for exclusive discounts, benefits, and top secret info only our podcast listeners get!www.millennialmission.coPress Inquiries/Contact: bethany@millennialmission.co

Allison Fallon has a really cool story that is so in line with what we talk about here on The Millennial Mission Podcast. During this interview she shares how she took the leap and decided to pursue writing. Now, Ally is a writing coach, author, and speaker who encourages her audiences to live their authentic purposes and stop trying to romanticize their dreams. Purpose is hard, purpose journeys are not always pretty, and Ally articulates that message so well in this interview through her story. This episode is sure to give you the kick in the pants that you need to start your 2021 off on the right foot. Things We Discussed In The Episode/Episode Highlights: The importance of acknowledging when you’re in the wrong seatWhy fantasizing our dreams is actually keeping us from living them outThe importance of finding beauty in the chaos of lifeThe Power of Writing it Down (Ally’s new book) More on Guest:Preorder the Power of Writing it Down HERE!IG:@allyfallonFor other resources she offers visit www.allisonfallon.com More on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode:Follow us on IG: @bethanyandcorey Sign Up for exclusive discounts, benefits, and top secret info only our podcast listeners get!www.millennialmission.coPress Inquiries/Contact: bethany@millennialmission.co

73. Thursdays are About to Make us ALL a Whole Lot Better--Listen to Find Out Why!

As you guys know, we have been doing two episodes per week for quite a while now. For some time, we have done our general life updates, debt updates, and purpose interviews on Tuesdays and then on Thursdays we have been diving deeper into parenting. While we LOVE talking about parenting, we realize that not all of our listeners are parents, and we also have decided that we want to start diving deeper into some other important topics as well.  We decided to make that shift in 2021. As always, our Tuesday episodes will be covering the same topics, but Thursdays we will focus one one specific topic for the entire month. We want to continue to grow and improve both personally and as a community, and what better way than to dive deep into one specific topic at a time.  More than likely this will be the monthly structure for Thursdays:Week 1: We will introduce and discuss the topic and what we’d like to improve on in that topicWeek 2: We will have an expert come on and help us dissect and learn more about the focused topicWeek 3: We will do a deep biblical dive on the topicWeek 4: We will do a recap of what we learned for the month We are really excited about this new shift and we plan to cover things like finances, health, parenting, marriage, millennials, and more -- picking one topic each month! Listen to today’s episode to find out what we will be focusing on for the remainder of our Thursday episodes this month! Also, if you have a topic you’d like us to cover in one of the upcoming months, please feel free to reach out to us! Things We Discussed In The Episode/Episode Highlights: The overall structure of our podcast and changes to comeWhy we are still going to do Thursday episodes but they won’t always be about parentingWhat you can expect on Thursday episodes going forwardWhat you can do to prepare if you want to make the most out of Thursday episodes/focus topicsThe importance of signing up for our podcast email list More on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode: Sign Up for exclusive discounts, benefits, and top secret info only our podcast listeners get!Follow us on IG: @bethanyandcoreywww.millennialmission.coPress Inquiries/Contact: bethany@millennialmission.co

We could not think of a better person to bring on for this topic than author Arden Bevere!  Arden Bevere is the youngest son of John and Lisa Bevere and the cofounder of Sons & Daughters, a movement committed to raising up a generation of uncompromising followers of Christ who will transform our world. Arden has traveled the world doing ministry and speaking at conferences. He has a passion to see his generation go further than any that came before it, fully alive in this God-adventure. Not only does Arden have a new book coming out this month talking all about Millennials, the labels that hold us back, and what we can do to be better as a generation, but he is a trailblazer for the Christian community as a whole. If you struggle with caring too much about the opinions of others, fear, anxiety, or are simply looking for some insight on how to continue to grow and improve, this episode is for you. Everything Arden shares is applicable to everyday life and backed with scripture which is exactly where we need to be basing our decisions from.  Millennials, parents of millennials, and anyone who interacts with or has even met a millennial, we have come so far and yet there is still so much growing to do. So, let’s dive in and learn together! Make sure you are subscribed to the podcast so that you can continue to hear more about how we are planning to grow and empower our generation to RISE UP and be the people they are called to be. Things We Discussed In The Episode/Episode Highlights: The struggle of succumbing to fear and not wanting to stand out from the crowdThe changes that can take place when we stop putting all of the pressure on ourselves, and instead allow God to work through usHow to strip away the labels our generation has been given and instead listen to the callings from GodThe importance of not replacing the word of God with podcasts, articles, blogs and other well-meaning resources of the worldLearning to love people that we disagree with More on Arden Bevere:Preorder Ardens Book HERE!Sons and Daughters WebsiteIG: @ardenbevere More on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode:Follow us on IG: @bethanyandcorey Sign Up for exclusive discounts, benefits, an

75. Let’s Stop Avoiding the Hard Things with our Kids

Being a parent is such a huge responsibility and an amazing privilege. It’s so cool to see a tiny infant grow and transform into a grown human that can form their own thoughts and opinions. One of the responsibilities of being a parent is protecting our kids from things they might want but we know aren’t good for them. Over time, we have found that sometimes, it’s also easy to avoid things that are uncomfortable for the sake of protecting them, but is that always helpful? The reality is that real life is hard. It’s scary. There are tough things out there that some days, I wish I could just shield my kids from for all of their lives, but at the end of the day our kids are going to grow up and be exposed to these harsh realities of a fallen world. Acknowledging this has really forced Corey and I to shift our mindset around the way we parent because we have realized that one way or another our kids are going to be exposed to these hard things whether we like it or not. Are we doing our kiddos a disservice by trying to shield them from too much? Today we talk more about this, and share a tool that we created to help you navigate these daunting conversations that are bound to come up at one point or another. We’ve talked about the My Why Journal a few times, but here’s yet another way this amazing tool can help you in your parenting journey. Millennials--we are raising the next generation. Let’s do it with intentionality and empower our kiddos to be world changers! Things We Discussed In The Episode/Episode Highlights: Why avoiding hard, disappointing, or real-life topics is not helping our kidsThe importance of exposing our kids to tough things in controlled environmentsHow we can use hard situations to our benefit and raise critical thinkersExplanation of My Why Journal and how you can use it to initiate uncomfortable conversations More on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode: Sign Up for exclusive discounts, benefits, and top secret info only our podcast listeners get!Get My Why Journal HereLearn More About My Why Journal HereFollow us on IG: @bethanyandcoreywww.millennialmission.coPress Inquiries/Contact: bethany@millennialmission.co

Why are you just sitting there doing nothing?! Over the last month, we have taken a deeper dive into the topic of Millennials. Who are we, what are we doing well, and what do we need to improve on? 80. Stop Pretending to Have the Perfect Life: Your Struggles Are Your Victory Story

Today we are introducing our Thursday topic for February, and it’s a good one. How many times have you felt less than, like a failure, or like you’re the only one with struggles?! We for sure have--and the easiest thing to do when we feel that way is to try and cover up those struggles, put on a facade, and move forward with life like everything is perfect. BUT what if we told you that what we’ve been learning over the years is that our struggles, our flaws, the most shameful parts about us, can be used as our victory stories and change not only our lives, but the lives of those around us? In February, we are chatting with people who have been dealt cards that no one would ask for, but at the end of the day they were given two choices: 1. Would they cave under the grief, and choose to fold, continue to hide their struggles, and try to deal with the pain behind closed doors? Or 2. Would they rise up and use the most painful parts of their lives as a victory story and pull people out of the rubble with them? Not only is this topic timely as we have all been dealing with different trials over the last year, but it’s so essential that we find the courage to use these trials and grow from them. God has given us gifts and talents to use for his glory, but he doesn’t just want us to use the pretty parts of our lives. We are given the ugly parts for a reason too. We are given these lives, and yes, even the hard days for a reason. So, let’s dive in this month and try to determine how God might be using our own stories for His glory. Things We Discussed In The Episode/Episode Highlights: How the ideals of having perfect highlight reels is actually preventing us from living out the lives that God has called us toThe freedom that comes with admitting our struggles, temptations, and imperfections2 Corinthians 12:9 boasting about our weaknessesOur free download to take notes for each monthly topic!

Did you know 1 in 4 women experience miscarriage? If this is such a common thing that people face, why is it so taboo? Today we talk with Ashley Opliger about her story of losing her first daughter, Bridget. Ashley’s story is one of both heartbreak and hope and that’s exactly why we chose her to be part of our topic series for February.  Ashley faced an unimaginable trial, but she didn’t just stop there. 83. It's not the big things, but the little things: The Importance of being Intentional in Parenthood with Carter and Liberty Adkins

Today we decided to do something a little different on the podcast. We had the brilliant (or not so brilliant) idea to interview our kids about our parenting. The only rule they had was that they had to be honest. Our goal? To determine if what we thought was most important to them was accurate. What do you think is most important to your kiddos? A lot of expensive things? A nice house? That they get to play all the sports or go on awesome vacations? For us, we have noticed a lot of what seems to be most important to our kids is quality and intentional time with them. Sounds easy right? In the craziness of life, we far too often find ourselves letting those moments of intentionality slip through the cracks, and it’s something we are constantly working on.  Listen to today’s episode to hear the answers that Carter and Liberty gave us, and decide for yourself what you think is most important to kids. If you want another challenge, we encourage you to do your own parenting audit and ask your kids the questions that we asked. We are providing them below for you. Don’t forget--make sure they know that being honest will not get them in trouble! You might be surprised what they share with you! We definitely were! What's your favorite thing to do with your dad? What's your favorite thing to do with your mom? What is one thing you wish your dad didn't do?What is one thing you wish your mom didn't do?What would your idea of a perfect day with your parents be?Would you rather your parents work all the time but buy you really nice toys and you never see them, or would you rather not have have that many toys, but get to spend a lot of time with your parents and your family? What's one of your favorite memories of you with your parents? If you could pick one thing your parents have taught you that you will always remember, what is it? Things We Discussed In The Episode/Episode Highlights: What our prediction was for what our kids would think was most important to themThe importance of letting your kids feel hear by giving them opportunities to ask questionsA tool to use to help facilitate communication with your kidsAn entertaining and enlightening conversation with our two kids, Carter and LibertyOur conclusion and recap of the conversation after the kids leftSome encouragement to parents who feel like they never get it right More on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode: Sign Up for exc

84. Use Your Trials to Live Life to The Fullest with Rachel Awtrey

Rachel Awtrey is a podcaster and online encourager, and like a lot of us--she is in a place where she never thought she’d find herself. Is life ever cookie cutter?! When Rachel was in high school, her dad passed away suddenly during a rock climbing accident. The loss of her dad left her with unimaginable grief, doubts, and hardships. The legacy that her dad left behind though was a constant reminder to Rachel that she had two choices: would she choose to sit in her grief and question God’s plan, or would she do her best to use her story to carry out her dad’s legacy? As you know we are talking about using our trials as victory stories this month, and Rachel was the perfect addition to this line up. Listen to today’s episode to see which road she took and find the encouragement that you need to take those hardships that you are going through and use them to live your life to the fullest. You’ve got this friends, and we are always here to cheer you on! Things We Discussed In The Episode/Episode Highlights: How doubt can be normal, but the importance of not staying in that placeThe importance of having supporters and being a supporter to people in your lifeThe choices we can make when being faced with trials and tribulationsHow our trials can help catapult us into living life to the fullest if we allow them More on Rachel Awtrey:www.BehindtheBliss.com Use Code Millennial15 for 15% off store!

85. Here’s to Nine Years: All the Dirty Deets on our Last Nine Years of Marriage

Our wedding anniversary is this week, so we thought it would be fun to ask each other questions reflecting on our last nine years of marriage. Some of the questions are serious, some are funny, but almost all of them expose Bethany and make her sound like the total fool she is. So, if you’re into that---you’re in for a treat. In all seriousness, we have learned a lot over the last nine years of our marriage, and while this episode is fun and lighthearted there are still some lessons to be learned. Life is not neat and tidy, so we never want to polish our lives to seem that way. That being said, we aren’t marriage experts and aren’t giving professional advice throughout this episode. We are also well aware of our shortcomings but choose not to shy away from them.  Just like all of our episodes, our aim is to share real life, and be transparent so that our audience knows they are not alone in the struggle. Marriage is hard, and you’re not a failure just because social media makes you feel that you are the only one struggling. Our hope through sharing the “real” parts is to encourage you all to know that we don’t have to stay where we are.  There is ALWAYS room for growth in life, and we are choosing to grow and get better every day! It’s not always comfortable for us to share what we share in our episodes, (so please keep that in mind)  but we want to be who we truly are both on and off of the mics while also sharing that we are constant works in progress.  That being said, choose to listen at your discretion as we are not marriage experts, don’t claim to be, and we choose to share the real and messy parts of our lives in hopes that you all know that you’re not alone---and also for your entertainment. Enjoy! Things We Discussed In The Episode/Episode Highlights: The changes we have experiences over the last night yearsA fight that we had, what we learned, and what we did to overcome itThe importance of keeping God at the center of our marriageOur proudest moments, our most embarrassing moments, and our most vulnerable moments  More on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode:Follow us on IG: @bethanyandcorey Sign Up for exclusive discounts, benefits, and top secret info only our podcast listeners get!www.millennialmission.coPress Inquiries/Contact: bethany@millennialmission.co

86. Topic Recap: Turning Your Trials into a Victory Story with Larry Rose

Why do bad things happen to good people? Why do innocent babies die of cancer? Is my life hard as a result of my poor decisions? Should I just throw in the towel?! We are wrapping on our first full month of Thursday Focus Topics today, and while we know you LOVE to hear from us (wink), we also thought it might be a good idea to recap with someone who actually knows what they are talking about. There is so much that we can learn from each other, but at the same time, it’s extremely important that we continue to root our beliefs in a solid foundation. That being said, as promised, at the end of each month we are going to recap our topic with a professional and have them help us finalize our conclusions by tying them to actual scripture. Today, we had the amazing opportunity to sit down with my very own grandfather or “Pappy,” Larry Rose. My Pap is extremely knowledgeable, but even more importantly than that, what he teaches is straight from the word of God. He has been an unwavering resource and mentor to us over the years, and I am so grateful to have him in my life. Ultimately this month, we have learned that we can in fact choose how we respond to the trials in our lives, and we can make our trials into victory stories. Let’s close this topic out by rooting it in scripture. Things We Discussed In The Episode/Episode Highlights: The story of Job and the trials he facedWhether our trials are a result of sin in our lives orWhat we should do in the face of trials More on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode:Follow us on IG: @bethanyandcorey Sign Up for exclusive discounts, benefits, and top secret info only our podcast listeners get!www.millennialmission.coPress Inquiries/Contact: bethany@millennialmission.co

These popular dieting trends like Keto, Whole30, Paleo, and so on are not one size fits all, and often are not sustainable or practical for all people. I know that both Beth and I did not, and it is still something that we still work through everyday. And how does exercise fit in? Is it important to still be active post high school and college? As you guys know, the focus topic for the month is health. But what does it actually mean to be truly healthy? If you’re anything like me, this is a question you’ve struggled to find the answer to. Diet culture encourages us to believe the idea that if we find just the right fad, we will find the perfect body, be healthy, and have a happy life--but is that really the full picture? Today, Corey and I are talking with Michelle and Brad Smith all about what it truly means to be healthy. 91. What Can You Do to Make Their Day? With Karen Ehman

Have you ever had someone do something random but super thoughtful for you? Have you ever wanted to do something like that for someone else but you weren’t quite sure what to do? I’ll be honest, this is something I always think about doing, but rarely do I make the time to execute it. It’s unfortunate too because so many people in my life have done this for me and my family.  A while back, Corey and I did a podcast episode on the “special touch” that the Millennial generation is missing and this is definitely a part of that. We get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of life that we forget to take time to make someone’s day. Today, Corey and I are chatting with best-selling author, Karen Ehman and not only does she share why doing this is so important, but she has written an entire book full of simple, budget-friendly, and even quick ideas on how we can do something kind and make someone’s day.  This book was such a quick and inspiring read. It’s one of those books you keep out on your coffee table to continue inspiring you to live out each day serving others. We found it so encouraging, that Corey and I decided to purchase a couple of her books, choose an act of kindness out of them and send the book along with the recipient so that we can start a chain. Listen to today’s episode for some inspiration on how you can make the day of someone in your life, and stay tuned because you might just be one of the recipients of the chain of kindness that we are about to start! Episode Highlights: The importance of connecting with those around usHow focusing on others can make us happierWhy we should stop looking for our big life purpose and focus more on what’s right in front of us More on Karen Ehman:www.karenehman.comOrder Make Their Day Here!

If high performing entrepreneurs think that fitness is important, what makes them any better than you? We are all designed for a unique purpose, and need to be at our best to fully live it out.As a dad, would having more energy help you keep up with and enjoy your kids more? As a business owner, would having more mental clarity help you make better decisions to move your business forward? As a nurse, would feeling better about yourself help you to take better care of your patients? The answer to all of these is yes.In this episode we dive deeper on the topic of fitness as it relates to purpose with Kim Wagler a trainer and the owner of Impulse, a fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle gym in North Canton, OH. 93. Mentorship… Is it Really that Important? with Kelsey Chapman

Mentorship vs Discipleship… What is the difference? Listen to today’s episode to find out. In this episode we chat with Kelsey Chapman, and author and podcast host. Kelsey shares her purpose journey of studying abroad and looking to become a missionary, when she felt God pushing her in a different direction. She felt God telling her, “There is nothing more noble than to do what I created you to do”. So she started writing, and started in marketing, before she became an author and podcaster. We also dive in on the importance of mentorship. I can speak for Bethany and I when I say, we would not be where we are today without the mentors that we have. It is important to find people who are better than  you in different areas of your life, and learn from them. Let them speak into your lift and guide you. You can learn from anyone. Also, just because they are a great business person, doesn't mean  they have to mentor you on marriage. Or just because they are a great person of faith, doesn't mean they have to mentor you on fitness. Let them mentor you where they are good at. Things We Discussed In The Episode/Episode Highlights: Mentorship vs DiscipleshipWhat is a noble purpose or thing to do in your life? Can anyone be a mentor? How can you find a mentor?Should we learn from the Gen Xers and Boomer? More on Guest:@kelschapmanWhat They Taught Me by Kelsey Chapmen More on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode:Follow us on IG: @bethanyandcorey Sign Up for exclusive discounts, benefits, and top secret info only our podcast listeners get!www.millennialmission.coPress Inquiries/Contact: bethany@millennialmission.co

95. Mindset Fuels Your Mission

What is MINDSET and how does it play into living out our purpose? My take on mindset is twofold. The first thing I think about when I think of mindset is that it is a perspective. The perspective in which you view whatever is in front of you. The second is that mindset is a choice. You choose what perspective to have. What mindset to have. You choose what lens to interpret something through, what action you will take, how you will react. Go on a journey with us this month to learn more about mindset and how it fuels our mission. Here is a teaser Bible verse for what God has to say about your mind and purpose. Romans 12:2 "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by THE RENEWAL OF YOUR MIND, that by testing you may discern what is THE WILL OF GOD, what is good and acceptable and perfect." 99. Unshakable Mindset in the Face of Fear

Stop living in fear and start living in the freedom of who God made you to be. Do you let fear grab a hold of your mindset or do you give it all to God. You control how you view the season that you are in. There is no wasted time. What can you be grateful for in a season of fear? You choose your reaction. You choose your attitude. You choose your mindset. It is all about your perspective. Are you missing out on what you are called to do in this moment? The small opportunities? We teach our kids to take their fear head on. We have all heard this, or told others this. Those that stay fearful will always be afraid or their fear will hold them back, and they never overcome it. The things that we are scared of and then take head on, are often not as scary once we are on the other side. There is freedom on the other side of fear. It all starts with mindset. What fear is holding you back? Sometimes bravery is just taking two steps ahead. Make Fear Your Friend! More on Guest:IG: @laurennkinneyBook: Unshakeable by Lauren KinneyFREE Unshakeable Devontionalhttps://www.thelaurenkinney.com More on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode:Follow us on IG: @bethanyandcorey Sign Up for exclusive discounts, benefits, and top secret info only our podcast listeners get!www.millennialmission.coPress Inquiries/Contact: bethany@millennialmission.co

Do you notice a change in behavior when your kids have had too much screen time or is it just us? Today Corey and I are having a conversation about what happened when we realized that our kids were watching WAY too much tv. Our decision to get rid of screens may have felt like we were punishing ourselves in the beginning, but in the end what we took away and decided to implement going forward was not what we expected at all. After over a year of living through a pandemic and being forced inside, we have decided to take ownership of the fact that we’ve been using screens a little too much. Today, we are doing something about it! Stay tuned as we keep you posted on what’s to come during life without screens! Things We Discussed In The Episode/Episode Highlights: The impact screen time has been having on our kids’ attitudes. What happened when we took the tv away from our kids. The importance of allowing our kids to be bored. The importance of short term sacrifice for long term payoff. Our decision to get rid of screens for 30 days. More on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode:Order The My Why Journal HEREFollow us on IG: @bethanyandcoreySign Up for exclusive discounts, benefits, and top secret info only our podcast listeners get!www.millennialmission.coPress Inquiries/Contact: bethany@millennialmission.co Listen to The Commons with Karla Episode Here

102. Why We Fail When We Count on Our Own Strength with Jeannie Cunnion

If I (Bethany) saw this topic on a podcast episode five years ago, I more than likely would have moved right past it and said it wasn’t for me.  The Holy Spirit is such an important part of our lives as Christians, but yet for some reason it seems foreign and is wildly misunderstood by many of us. That’s why today we were honored to have Jeannie Cunnion on the show as she bravely and articulately dives into this topic. Jeannie is releasing a book this month all about the power of the Holy Spirit and the importance of inviting the Holy Spirit into our lives and today we get to share the details with you all! Jeannie is well aware that this is an awkward topic for some, yet she did not shy away from the call that God placed on her heart to write about it and we are so grateful for that! I want to encourage you, don’t skip over this episode because chances are you are underestimating the power of the Holy Spirit. 105. Plant the Seeds and Follow the Gentle Nudges with Natasha Rohr

This episode is extra special to me (Bethany) because it’s a bit of a full circle moment. For those of you who have been here since the beginning, you know one of the reasons I started our blog + podcast is because I wanted to share the real and relatable parts of life. I felt disconnected and inadequate every time I looked online at the picture perfect feeds, and it was super discouraging and lonely. I wanted to change that and build a community of people who could relate and wanted to share the “real” and grow alongside us.  Well today, we are sharing a conversation that we had with one of our listeners in Oklahoma who we have never met before, but because of the podcast, we have developed a great friendship and been able to share and connect over the real parts of life! Today, Natasha Rohr is talking about all things life, motherhood, and purpose. We have a candid conversation just as if we were sitting together in real life. Natasha also shares about a book club that she started and I’m a part of and have been loving! I’m excited for you to hear this conversation and be reminded that we are all along on this crazy life journey together. It’s never in the surface level conversations about material things and keeping up with the joneses where we connect, but in the deeper things. Thank you for being part of our community! I hope this episode encourages you today. Episode Highlights: A little on Natasha’s story.Sharing some realness about motherhood and life. The importance of the “silent work” that we do.Why we should focus on planting the “small seeds.”Why purpose is sometimes hard. More on Natasha:Join The Mama Lion’s Book Club HERE More on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode:Order Chasing Perfect HEREFollow us on IG: @bethanyandcorey Sign Up for exclusive discounts, benefits, and top secret info only our podcast listeners get!www.millennialmission.coPress Inquiries/Contact: bethany@millennialmission.co

111. Raising Boys to be Men on Mission with John Eldredge

In today’s world, where being a man or a woman is controversial, what true masculinity and femininity were created to be, can be confusing. Today we focus mostly on masculinity, but do discuss femininity as well. As God created them to be. As I am writing this, I am thinking, “I hope this doesn’t offend anyone”. Then I caught myself, and said, “What are you talking about?” It is crazy to me to even think that any of this is controversial. What have we done to this world over the past 10-20 years? The truth can sometimes be offensive. The only consistent truth is not my truth or your truth, but THE TRUTH. That is found in Jesus. Jesus said, “I am the way, THE TRUTH, and the life”. As men, we often define our manhood by how long our beard is, if we wear skinny jeans or not, how big our truck is or small our Prius is, how much beer we can drink. But that is not what masculinity is about. These are caricatures of manhood. What is true masculinity then? How did God design it? In today’s episode John helps us define masculinity, and points back to the world’s ultimate man, JESUS. And we are not talking about the hippie, mild mannered, weak, and soft caricature of Jesus that has been served to us. That is not JESUS. In a culture where masculinity is under attack, we desperately need fierce, strong, loving, caring men who love Jesus, follow Jesus, but also seek adventure, fight battles, and love their wives. Let’s be real, men. We have become soft. It’s time for us to Man Up and love Jesus, and fight the battles. It’s time for us to RISE UP and live out who God created us to be! Episode Highlights: A little on John’s story.A focus on masculinity and manhood.Men and Women were created in God’s image. We are created to be different and point back to Him.What is true masculinity? How can moms help raise boys to be men?Let your sons take risks.Men need an adventure to chase, a battle to fight, and a woman to love. More on Guest:Order Wild at Heart HEREhttps://wildatheart.org/about-usWild at Heart IGFREE Series for Men: The Wild at Heart ExperienceFREE Series for Women: The Captivating Experience More on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode:Follow us on IG: @bethanyandcorey Sign Up for exclusive discounts, benefits, and top secret info only our podcast listeners get!www.millennialmission.coPress Inquiries/Contact: bethany@millennialmission.co

112. 5 Questions to Spark Conversation with your Kids

What are your conversations like with your kids? If you are anything like us, they go something like this:Us: “How was your day?”Kid: “Good.”Us: “What did you do?”Kid: “Played.” or “Learned.” or “I don’t remember.”LAME…We saw this as a problem, and wanted to develop a deeper relationship with them. Get to know them better. Make them feel comfortable talking to us about anything. Their struggles. Their dreams. So we used a sales strategy… Open Ended questions. We were asking closed ended questions before. Closed ended questions allow one word, short answers.
